The James G. Martin Centre for Academic Renewal Luncheon

Last Friday, we had the honor and the pleasure of hosting the James G. Martin Centre for Academic Renewal for their annual summer lunch session on Free Speech.

For those not in the know, the Martin Centre is a nonprofit institute based in Raleigh that is dedicated to improving higher education in not only North Carolina, but the entire nation. They have been around since 2003 and are active in the education and learning community.

This event in particular had Dr. Stanley Kurtz from the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, DC visit as guest speaker to address free speech on campus, institutional neutrality, and the policy progress that North Carolina has made on both of these issues. Fun fact, Dr. Kurtz’ very own policy proposal served as the model for North Carolina’s Restore Campus Free Speech Act last year!

While it did rain cats and dogs during the luncheon, all in all, it was a great and very informative time with a light lunch hosted by Diamond Food Catering (welcome back, guys!). We would like to once again thank the Martin Centre for allowing us to help them continue the fight for free speech everywhere, and if you would like to find out more about the James G. Martin Centre, you can visit their Facebook page here , and to learn more about their goals and history, you can check out their website here.
